Been going through some back injuries last couple of years and all of a sudden my swing has often turned into "hanging back" or falling backwards, instead of the traditional weight transfer I'd been used to most of my golfing life. I have a regular golf group, so they've known my swing and strengths and weaknesses, typical misses etc going back plenty of years now. As a means of trying to help me get back on track, they've been giving me some light coaching, recording my swing, etc. It's 100% become a feel vs real issue and I feel like because of the hanging back, I'm almost shifting too much weight forward now to offset and yet on video, I'm still hanging back often times. It's not every shot, but enough shots in a round to have tanked my handicap a few points. My theory is that my body is trying to protect my lower back subconsciously by not allowing the hip movement of the past because it just has me baffled at this point.

Having said all of that, are there any videos or training aids, swing thoughts, etc that you'd recommend or that have helped you or others who are falling back out of their swing? I'm someone who knows that I have very little room for swing thoughts and try to keep it limited to just 2-3, or else my game goes sideways quickly. I've even contemplated getting one of those pressure plates to get things back on track, but have heard mixed reviews. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Widen your stance, keeping your weight to the inside of your back foot. Don't sway, rotate

Thankfully, swaying hasn't been the issue. I just haven't been shifting back to my lead leg in the through swing like I used to. I do think my stance is a bit narrow though and have been told widening might help. Thanks!

Have you opened up your front foot any? Might help clear hips and get the weight moving easier

You mean like flare it out towards the target more? If so, I have not, but might be worth a try

3 things … 1) Focus on holding your spine angle through impact 2) covering the ball with your right shoulder on the strike and 3) wt on front foot at impact. In an effort to generate speed, I feel like I do something like you describe… and I'll sort of jump at it and lose my spine angle and my shoulders work too flat vs more up and down …. big block. I have a dark demented golf mind full of scar tissue but I have stayed at a holiday inn express and I went birdie birdie to close out nine holes tonight.

I've been told years back to open the front toe to help clear that hip and transfer the weight properly.
