Didn't know if this belonged in the F-golf or Love-Golf thread. My daughter is 11 and has played since she could hold a plastic club. She plays STPGA, PGA Jr and a travel team now.

It was bound to one day happen and finally did. 92 at the Campus course yesterday from the men's tees, my 11yo shot 90 from the yellows.

She called everyone she knew last night to tell them that she finally "beat daddy".

Kind of bittersweet for me because we both played really poorly (which I'll blame on pace of play nearly 6 hrs), but as I always tell her a W is a W. She got me. I just wish it was a better round for us, last year at Briarcrest she came close 77-78 and I wish it was 77-78 yesterday, but alas it was big crooked numbers. I wish I could have held her off for another year or 2 but wasn't in the cards.

Fgolf, I love golf

Enjoy your Ws over the next year or two because after that, you have no chance.

I stand by this is a love golf thread because anyone that has a child that wants to spend that kind of time with dad is very lucky

Wait until you see what she does when she beats you from the same tees. A buddy of mine that is hyper competitive (along with his daughter) lost to his daughter like that when she was 15 and she still needles him every time it happens. She did end up as a low level D1 golfer.

Oh it's coming for sure. Over spring break we played Black Jack's Crossing in Lajitas, #14 is a par 4- 330 for the men and 280 for the ladies. I hit my best drive of the day. Daughter also hit's a good one. She's 50 closer and had a 60 advantage. A 10 yd delta, best ball I hit all day and I got the 11yo by 10 yds.

My sister in law and her sister played at SHSU. When the play with their father he plays the men's tees and makes them play the tips, I have a feeling that day is coming for me

As a Dad, I think we are all looking forward to that day. Congrats to your daughter (and to you!).

My son has got close a couple times, but the old man has kept him at bay for now.

Next match is on Saturday. We'll see if he brings his A-game!

It would be appropriate to take the first L on Father's Day weekend.

Just had the following discussion with my daughter at lunch-

"Daddy me and mommy got you something cool for father's day, you're gonna love it!"

"You have a tournament at Miramont on Sunday, and I already got my father's day gift and it was the coolest one I have ever got"

she looked at me puzzled

"I got to see a little girl reach a lifelong goal of beating her daddy, and I had a front row seat to it"

She put her sandwich down and walked around the table and gave me the biggest sweetest hug!!

"You still get the gift though daddy!"

Oh contrare...

The 'L' is not taken... the 'W' is earned.

Putt 'em all. Count 'em all. No breakfast balls.

Um, that's golf right?

My daughter has never taken a mulligan, in fact she may not know what one is.

We played tourney last year where they had horrible bunkers, so, a local rule there was you could take relief from the bunker no nearer the hole. She's in a greenside and as she starts to walk in one of the tourney directors stops her and says something. She steps down in the bunker, plays out and rakes it. As we're walking to the next tee I said what did that guys say to you, that he'd rake for you? No daddy he was trying to trick me into cheating, he said we didn't have to play from bunkers we could drop out of them.

I remember the first time my son beat me. He was so proud calling everyone he knew. I told him that he really needed to raise the bar of expectation getting that excited beating me! HA!!!! We both got a good laugh!

Well, yesterday turned out a little better for me. Daughter was on the struggle bus. I got her 83-94. She is plenty long for the ladies tees but short game abandoned her. There was some highspots for her, most notably the par 4 2nd. Around 240 from the ladies tees. What you see here is my birdie putt outside of her eagle putt. She lipped out the 2 and made the 3. It won't be long now and I won't be able to best her.
