Had that happen twice yesterday and was very puzzling to me that someone can vary their pace so much. I know for me, if forced to rush or to slow too much between shots, my game goes sideways. Maybe I'm too sensitive to it...

Yes, had that happen. It's usually because the groups behind us were slower and let him through, and the group in front of us refused to do the same. So Speedy Gonzales hits a wall.

Oh yes...that happens too. I should have mentioned that no one ahead of him slowed him down when I let him through. It was a cold, chitty day and we could have been the only ones on the course.

I know it wasn't me. When I play through, the guys I normally play with and I play even faster until we have at least one entire hole between me and the group that let us through. What does it say that I usually golf better when in hyper speed mode to open up that gap ?

It says Don't over-think your shots.

I can carefully contemplate, or step up and whack it (putts too), and there doesn't seem to be any appreciable difference in the outcome. Crazy game.

It was but the only thing that has to do with this thread is the PGA tour players on average are really slow, especially at the US Open. Twosomes taking 5-6 hours would drive me nuts.
