Anyone heading out there this weekend? How was it last year and what tips would you have to see plenty of golf?
That's good that attendance is looking decent. Was a little worried a few weeks back my social media feed and emails were flooded with "buy 1 get 1 free" promos for the event.tricker10 said:

Last week I actually had a LIV employee cold call me and it was essentially "hey we saw you came last year but aren't on the list this year, please call us back so we can see what we can do to get you back out".
Not saying anything's wrong with either of those 2 things but you usually don't do either let alone both of those if attendance is good.
The last guy most of us would want to follow.98Ag99Grad said:

That TV broadcast is absolutely abysmal. Makes you appreciate the Tour presentation a little more.
In my humble opinion.
See and at least 50% of the time I'm watching golf with no sound. Unless it's the back 9 of a major, I'm not going to notice differences in the broadcast.Bunk Moreland said:grego said:

They have elements that are good (camera angles and how they show the course specifically) and much better than the PGAT and other elements that are so bad and not winners at all. A blend of the positives between both presentations is what's needed.
Sometimes it annoys me that the leaderboard has already updated the player's score before we see the putt or shot that led to it.
On the other end...
I don't need long drawn out narratives about no names on top of a leaderboard or random side stories during Tour broadcasts to just suck up time and collect 10 different shots that can then be spit out well after they happened.
Right now I'm watching both and switching audio back and forth. The PGAT coverage makes me want to go to sleep.

With an average of 2.79 million viewers in the final round, it was the most-watched Rocket Classic since 2020, when Bryson DeChambeau won. Coverage this year peaked at 5.13 million, likely during the sudden-death playoff.
Golf on CBS is averaging its highest viewership since 2018 and is up 13% from last season.
Last week's Travelers Championship pulled in 3.51 million viewers on Sunday, making it the third highest rating of the year for a non-major, behind the RBC Heritage and Players Championship.
The Rocket Classic went up against LIV Dallas on FS2, which saw Patrick Reed claim his first victory on the circuit. According to the Sports Business Journal, the final round had an average of 75,000 viewers; though when it was on Fox during the first two rounds, Friday pulled in 333,000 people and Saturday had 263,000.

Yep, will be interesting to see both the Saudi and player decisions as these initial contracts come up. And there's 2 sides to the coin - (1) what Saudi is willing to do and (2) do some of these guys feel content they cashed in 9 figures and now want to go back to the Tour and focus on majors and legacy (while still being able to cash healthy checks, just not Saudi level healthy).
In the US at least, this has firmly landed as exhibition golf. Few are watching, and those that are attending/watching are more from the change-of-pace and curiosity factor. The results are secondary; it's interesting that day but no one really cares who is racking up wins.
I think Saudi leans into the international aspect as these deals come up. They could have done that for a lot cheaper if that was the strategy from the outset, but I think that's where it's headed - a mostly international field and schedule (even moreso than now)
