Taking my clubs in early August for a birthday trip. What's the best bang for the buck?

Angel Park for something a little less expensive but still nice. Plenty of nice courses to splurge on though. All of the Paiute courses are good.

Rio Secco and Cascata are both fun.

Budget and willingness to drive further out are key questions to make a recommendation. Need something near the strip, willing to drive 30 minutes, or willing to go over an hour for a wild show like Wolf Creek. Paiute and Rio Secco are usually my recommendations for someone willing to go 25-30 minutes away. Cascata is a good option too in that range.

Won't it be unbearably hot in August?

Played Rio Secco, TPC and Cascata. All three were excellent, but Cascata was #1. There were eight of us and we were there in November so heat wasn't problem.

I might want to add I'm a short knocker - a 225 yard drive is an accomplishment for me and I'm an 11 handicap. Tour quality course might be frustrating .

If short hitter then not paiute - wolf. Although you could get by with playing shorter tees. Paiute really is the best value in vegas imo. Revere lexington was fun the 2 times I played it and good value.

Do not and I mean DO NOT play bali hai. Worst experience ever. I played it this summer. Might sound cool playing near the strip and airport but its not. Rundown course.

Coyote springs aint bad but if you are going that far out play wolf creek.

Need some assistance from you guys. I'll be in Vegas in November and I'll have time for two rounds. Debating between Paiute Wolf, Rio Secco, and Cascata. I've played all three Paiute courses but it's probably been 6-7 years. Never played Rio Secco or Cascata. Booking those two together will get me a discounted rate. Saying that, which two would you guys play? Having never played RS, should I give it a shot over Wolf? Is Cascata worth the price tag? Should I skip Cascata and play the other two?

It's been 7 or 8 years since I played Cascata, but I've played a lot of really great places in the US and Cascata was one of my very top golf experiences.

All for the low, low cost of a mortgage payment or 2.

As a follow up, I played Palm Valley. Nice course and it didn't cost me a kidney. It was 105 when we finished (just 2 in our group), and foursomes of members refused to let us play through. Humidity, or no humidity, 105 was hot and the wind made it like a blast furnace. Still beats Corpus at 95.

Played Cascata and Rio Secco in May. Both are really fun. Cascata is the nicer place but I may like the design of Rio Secco more. I don't think you would be disappointed with either.

Only golf trip i have ever had in Vegas was Painted Desert and some place called Stallion something

Painted Desert was much better and the Stallion course was nice but nothing to write home about at all and the water jugs each three holes werent always filled which nearly killed us in the heat as well

Yeah, this is the time of year to get the 6-6:30ish AM tee time, scoot around in under 3.5, and be off the course around 10ish.

Paiute if you've got your own car

Agree. Paiute is fantastic.

But if you have your own car, you owe it to yourself to drive to Wolf Creek. One of a kind experience.

I think I'm going to roll with Rio Secco and Cascata with a 50/50 chance I add Paiute. I'd have to play it the day I arrive which is fine because I land at 7:00am local. Plan is to just Uber. I read that rentals can be a pain the week of Thanksgiving and I'd be heading out for my tee times before the casino rental car office opens so that's not an option. I played Wolf Creek exactly 20 years ago and would love to take my dad there. Thinking of pairing a round there with a trip to Black Desert in the next couple years.

All of those courses listed above are amazing.

If you're looking for bang for your buck, Bears Best which is a tour 18 of Nicklaus holes. Usually in the $150 per person range.

I actually looked at Bear's Best because I had played it in the past and enjoyed it. Turns out the course closed on 6/28 because it's transitioning into a private club.

Was just talking a week ago with a family member about this! A shame. That course was a blast when I played it. There are enough private courses out that direction, don't need another.

Edit to add: I played it on a weekday during the summer and it was a nice price.
