Heading up to see some relatives in the area. Usually play High Meadow Ranch, but it is booked the day we want to play. Again, this would have to be public accessible.

Any suggestions? Looked at these:

Grand Lakes Estate Golf Course: nothing fancy but gets good reviews for quality of course (no clubhouse, etc.)

Margaritaville: was recommended to me verbally

Augusta Pines: ?

Highland Pines is north-ish. Cypresswood Tradition Course is in the area.

Margaritaville isn't a fun course. Squeezed into a tight space. People will play it up and say it's better than previous years and I'm never pleased. Main thing that I prefer when playing courses are consistent and nice greens. Tee boxes can be ugly, Fairways can be spotty, but if your greens are terrible generally so is the experience. And, I've never played it in a good condition.

I live up here in Conroe. I played Panorama Village today it's always a decent course.

Grand Lake Estates is what it is. You can get an enjoyable round in, just come prepared with food and drinks.

Highland Pines is the best around. Augusta Pines and Cypresswood Tradition are probably next in line. Cypresswood Cypress is decent, along with Windrose.

Just got an email from HMR. Says the tee sheet has opened up for this Friday and Saturday, if that's helpful to you.

HMR is definitely the best course up that way. Grand Lake is a decent option (really cool layout), but it's not in HMR's league.

Highland Pines is incredible. But Googlemaps says it's 53 mins from Montgomery proper right now.

Many thanks on this heads up. Tee time reserved.
