I have an old Garmin golf watch, but now have an Apple Watch. What is the best app for measuring distance on the watch while on the course? Preferably free. Don't necessarily need a lot of other options, mainly just front, middle, back of green with good accuracy.

I hear good things about Shotscope. Not sure what the cost is. I have Arrcos and it will give you the data but its expensive.

Been using Golfshot.

It is good. It also has swing analysis features that I haven't quite figured out.

I have a subscription to GolfLogix, that gives me different yardages, front, center, back, carry distances, lay up distances etc… Also has a putting green feature that helps you identify the slopes and different tiers on the green. It can even "read" rhe putt for you. Golflogix might be worth it if you played different courses every time you played. Once my yearly subscription ends I'll cancel it. In the past ive used the Grint app and Golfscope too.

Shotscope has no subscription cost. You can buy the club tags separately if you want to do shot tracking with the phone app. I don't believe the app works on the Apple Watch, though.

I like The Grint - but not sure about the Apple Watch connection. I don't like to play wearing a watch or any rings.

I use 18birdies on my Apple watch. It's free and seems to be pretty accurate and is user friendly for the basics. If you need a hazard distance or something, you can bring it up on the phone.

I use tangent. It does require an annual subscription but the shot tracking is extremely accurate with the Apple Watch and the app tracks so much data that I really like to see after my round, especially if I take the time to annotate if I hit it flush, fat, thin, etc.

I have Golfshot and I like it. However, the power barely makes it through 18 holes on my Apple watch and sometimes doesn't make it. Anyone else have that issue?

Got a new ultra 3 and it came with the BEEZER app installed. One time I used it it was spot on with the golf cart gps. Free

For Tangent, there is a setting where it uses the phone's GPS instead of the watch GPS. You still have all of the same functionality on the watch, but it uses less battery. You just have to know the distances are coming from your phone's position (which I leave on my push cart so it isn't a big deal). If I ride, I leave my phone in my pocket, which I would do anyways.

Hole19 app.

It's free and pretty darn accurate.

Golfshot. Hands down the best app out there. I play competitively and caddie, will never use anything but Golfshot.

Tried tangent for a couple of rounds and found way too many things to think about as data entry. Completely lost focus on golf while navigating the app in between shots.
