Was fortunate enough to get to play in a tournament there today. Let me start by saying that the course is in pristine condition, it definitely lived up to expectations. Secondly, it was probably one of, if not the toughest course I've ever played. I would have never thought the elevation changes to exist in Fort Worth that are on that course. All in all, 10/10. It's Monday and I wasn't working, but playing golf instead at a place like that.

I played there last week and thought it was fantastic. In my opinion, it is so much harder now after the renovation by OCM Golf. Especially, the greens.

The elevation changes are pretty dramatic at Shady Oaks, and it was in excellent condition.

Have not played it since the remodel. I was on it right before they started it.

But I have played it maybe 20 times since the early 90s and is one of my favorite courses in the State. If I ever move back to Ft Worth, which won't happen, I would want to join.

I have a close friend whose family has been members up there for many years. I love the Ben Hogan connection as a FW Native (RIP Glen Garden), fortunately the members approved the financial support for the new layout at Shady.

Would love to have a chance to experience. Thank you for posting your impressions LRB38! Tarrant County Golf is unmatched ; )

I think the first 6-7 holes are super tough and really neat. And then it isn't anything special. The par 5s on the back are very poor in my opinion.

Little 9 is super cool though. And the clubhouse is fantastic. Great GM too.

Got to play it at the Golfers Journal event earlier this month. Was in phenomenal shape. The front is better than the back. 4-8 is a fantastic stretch. Like the two double greens. As someone who hates not being able to hit driver on par 5s, I agree with the take about the par 5s on the back. Some of the fastest greens I've played. Clubhouse is excellent. Portrait of Hogan ripping driver with a heater between his lips made my day.

I was at that event as well (had on an A&M hat).

I played terrible, but I enjoyed the course. The views of Fort Worth on the front 9 were great, the greens were excellent, and the short course was chaotic fun. I thought the Hogan museum was great as well - at the end of the evening the head pro showed me the table in the upstairs dining room where Hogan used to sit and overlook the course.

It was my first BTS event, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just gotta play better in future ones.

Sounds like we had a similar experience. Not happy with how I played, but thoroughly enjoyed the event and the competition. I had to leave right after the round to get back to Houston so did not get to play the short course, unfortunately.
