A week late but it's still pretty fun. Can't believe they don't have a Texas team with all the Golfers we have.

TGL (The Golf League) currently features six city-based teams for its 2025-2026 season, including Atlanta Drive GC, Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links GC, Los Angeles Golf Club, New York Golf Club, and The Bay Golf Club, but is actively planning expansion with trademark filings for Detroit (Motor City), Chicago (Chicago Links), and Texas (Dallas), potentially adding them for the 2027 season or beyond, with strong interest from investors for new franchises.

IMO this league would catch on more if they actually travelled to the locations of the teams and allowed fans to attend and support the local team.

That would certainly be better but not sure it's feasible. Between the 6 story screen and the rotating green and hundreds of jacks to change the undulations, that would probably be tough to justify both logistically and financially.

It's no substitute for real sports but if they can schedule it where it typically doesn't go up against real games, it beats watching reruns of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

I'm not sure there's actually a goal to create affinity for a "local team". But regardless building a stadium everywhere isn't really feasible

Which proves my point of why I think the entire tgl model is somewhat ridiculous. Having cities represented with hardly anyone on the team with any connection to said city playing every contest away from the said city. How exciting. (Eye roll)

Would've made more sense to just have teams without trying to have any connection to any population. I personally just don't get it.

I think it's more about drawing investors from those locations. If there's teams you've got to call them something. If not cities, then you have some awful dumbass names like Crushers, Fireballs and Torque

you're right. It makes way more sense to have team names associated with cities none of the players are from or live in and never play any "games" in said cities.

I think its funny how they keep using the language of "Tiger Woods returns to the SoFi Center...". They leave out the part where he returns to sit in the stands, but nonetheless.

Also, maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but does Tiger really move the needle at this point? They're obviously trying to target a younger audience for a product like this, and most people in that age bracket were barely alive during the meat of his career.

I mean I will always love having watched Tiger, but do people in 2026 really care about watching him hit a golf ball anymore?

Tiger is relevant with the late 30's and up crowd only because it would be cool to see him win again. (personally I dont care). As far as moving the needle I don't think he does that with the mid 30's and younger crowd anymore imo.

wait until the woman's TGL league starts this winter. I'm sure tens of people will tune in for that.

Yeah I think a better plan would have been to just expand the rosters to 6, including 2 ladies players with a requirement that 1 plays each time. Then there's a little deeper bench for when someone is unavailable, and you still get the LPGA players some amount of exposure. But as of right now theres only like 8 players in the league that matter.

Thitikul, Korda, Charley Hull, Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson, Lottie Woad and Minjee Lee. Though they were oddly trotting out Lexi who as of now has retired.

Making it co-ed makes a lot more sense than having a league for men and a league for women.
