No. 7 AGGIES FINISH THIRD AT THERESE HESSION REGIONAL CHALLENGE
PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. -- The No. 7 Texas A&M women's golf team secured a third-place finish at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge Tuesday at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.
"We didn't have the stuff we needed this week to come out on top but we really competed at a high level and outpaced a lot of great programs," head coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "I thought this was a very gritty week for us where we had a rough patch in each round but really fought through to make a run at the end. Palos Verdes is a very demanding golf course that tests every facet of your game. The first six holes are some of the toughest we will see all year. I am encouraged to build on this week."
No. 2 UCLA took home the tournament title by 11 strokes. No. 11 Texas (+3) followed in second, while Texas A&M (+9), No. 6 Florida (+12) and No. 3 Oregon (+13) rounded out the top five.
Brynn Kort and Sky Sudberry led the Maroon & White to an even-par 284 finish on the final round, as both players shot 2-under 69.
Vanessa Borovilos overcame an early deficit and birdied six holes to finish at even-par 71. Natalie Yen concluded her tournament with a 4-over 75, while Louise Reau rounded out the final day's action at 6-over 77.
Kort topped the Aggie contingent finishing tied for sixth in the overall standings at 1-under 212. The individual crown was split between UCLA's Jeonghyun Lee and Texas' Farah O'Keefe who shot 5-under 208.
