I've got one. And I don't count it.

It's about halfway between a real hole in one and a hole in one on a Golden Tee par 4.

I used to go to a golf simulator place a couple times a month with Trackman tech. I made an ace there on a legit par 3, something like 180yds. I asked the person working there how many they'd seen, and they said that was the 2nd one in the 2 years that they'd been open. So, while it sorta legitimized it from a difficulty standpoint, there's still no way I'd count it, or even mention it in a discussion of HIOs unless someone asked about sims.

Bet if there was money on the line you'd count it!!

True, it is a virtual environment - similar to the virtual environment commercial pilots use to train.

Maybe. But when those commercial pilots crash and burn on the sim they get to walk away.

No, I've been playing 30 years without an ace. I have like 3 or 4 (see I didn't even count them much less save the ball) on the simulator. I did send pics to my golf buddies the first time though.

Got another one this morning. I go to the simulator almost every day, maybe it's a frequency thing like slot machines.

Counts the same as all the hole in ones I made on Tiger Woods golf on my Playstation back in the early 2000s.

I get what you're saying, nothing fully replaces the feeling of dunking one on a real course. That said, our sims are a totally different animal from arcade-style games. Our simulators calculate real ball data launch angle, spin rates, ball speed, and they factor in wind, elevation, temperature, and course conditions. It's not preset outcomes like Golden Tee or a PlayStation game. I'll be pretty stoked if I ever get a hole-in-one on our sims!
