I've finally done it. My Taylormade R9 has been an excellent driver since 2009. No issues with face, shaft, grip, no upgrades. Just a tried and true beast! I've held my own off the tee box against buddies with newer clubs but have always fought the urge to upgrade, because DANG new clubs are expensive.

Finally bit the bullet two weekends ago and for some fun bought a demo Taylormade Qi35. Upgraded from a stiff to extra stiff shaft. Struggled to hit it in the simulator at Edwin Watts (with 3 guys waiting in line albeit). However took it for a spin on Friday and absolutely COULD NOT MISS with it. The stiffer shaft really improved my control and I found shaping shots effortless.

What's the oldest club in y'all's bags?!

Ping O Blade putter 1977. My Dad's buddy had it in a barrel in his garage and he let me pick out any putter I wanted. It has been in my bag all these years with only sporadically removing for a week or two at a time.

All of them!
Driver is a Zevo from around 2002-ish
Irons are TaylorMade RAC from 2001

I desperately need new tools as I am losing distance…about 10-15 yards with irons. I need to get fitted to take advantage of technology but as you said….$$$$

Hogan Special 60 wedge that my dad's friend gave me when I was about 9

Grooves and face are pretty much polished smooth so this point. I only keep off for nostalgia at this point because I can't hit the dang thing except in emergencies from a bunker.

Oldest real club I use is my Odyssey white hot putter from around 1997.

Vokey wedge. Given to me by a buddy with a low moral compass. Evidently, he took it from the lost and found barrel at our local course, didn't like it, so he gave it to me. Didn't find all this out for a while.

There is a certain satisfaction that comes from using an older club and knowing you are playing just fine with it as well.

I have an older odyssey putter that was gifted to me by one of my mom's PT patients while I was playing competitively in high school. He died a year later so I'm kinda attached to it. Also just can't seem to find a replacement that feels substantially better than what I'm using.

Which bag?

My ancient bag is an old Tommy Armor blade putter
My old bag would by my Callaway FT-5 driver
My gamer is probably my Scotty Newport 2.0 from 7-8 years ago...maybe

I have a theory. It's really simple marketing. I think that the hottest club faces are on demo drivers. Your product is going up against your competitors in the demo area. So, you want to test and send your hottest driver club faces head to head vs the competition. They sell the crap off the rack, for twice the money.

Oldest club in the bag?

I had an almost 24 year old Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Newport 2 in my bag since February 2002 until Christmas 2025 when my son gifted me a new Scotty Cameron Studio Style Newport 2.5+.
