Trying to decide if I should put a window/s in this shed. Dimensions are 10x12x9H. Will have power. Those with similar size sheds do you have a window? I think a likely option that would look ok would be to put in two windows on one of the sides.

Always yes. Natural light and the possibility of breeze for ventilation.

ETA: And the possibility of a window unit a/c later.

Natural light is very nice in sheds.

Unless you're putting a heavy security door and lock, why wouldn't you?

Eats up some of the wall storage space. But I'm leaning towards two windows on the side wall.

I've got the exact same dimensions as you for a shed I want to build. (Maybe in the fall). I will be putting windows in mine. I'm a vote for yes absolutely and I'm even planning 2 35.5x71.5 windows.

Door in front, window in rear was best for me
PROS
option for cross ventilation
daylighting to find stuff
better mood when inside, less of a cave/jail feel
option for small window AC or fan box
I have a view
CONS
tempting burglars to use this weak link for entry + able to see contents
privacy from neighbors, if any
poor quality can leak
possible solar gain
fixing any breakage pronto prior to storms
may reduce wall storage spaces

Hell, I'd put three windows. At the local habitat resale place you can buy those for 50 a piece. Double paned if you want.

Change roof to single slope, bump up house facing eve height, add clerestory windows.

Easier roof to build, no real affect to wall storage, can build your own clerestory windows.

I'm not sure if the HOA (or wife) would approve the single slope. Do you have a picture with the windows?

Going to change to a single slope roof, something like what is shown below. Thanks for the suggestion. Not going to ask the HOA for permission.

do you live in an area that needs a WPI-8 for windstorm insurance?

Not sure? I live south of Denver.

All the cool kids are doing single slope.

Transom windows are pretty hard to find. I've checked HD, Lowes, and nothing. I'm going to just put siding over the windows until I can find them unless someone knows somewhere else I can find.

Hoping to find something like this:

Why not just trim them with 2x2 and put a piece of glass or plexi in there. Unless you want something that opens, that would seem getting an actual window unit is overkill.

If you want manufactured, search for hopper (basement) windows, clerestory, or picture windows in the size you want.

I just milled some cedar for exterior and interior stops and used lexan for mine. They are up under one of the extended overhangs, so I wasn't too worried about wind driven rain so they are just caulked well.

The plans I'm following don't have anything going between the siding and the studs on the exterior. Should I place some sort of liner?

If it's just a shed that won't be insulated or air conditioned, it shouldn't matter.

Are you doing siding over sheathing or a siding panel direct to studs?
The Pilot

I think I settled on 7/16 plywood sheathing on the studs and then I'll do siding on top of that.

Thanks though but I'm in Denver. I bought some from Lowes yesterday.

That's right. I remember reading that now. Oh well. Glad you got what you needed.

If you're doing siding over sheathing just go ahead and install a WRB correctly. A roll and the tape is cheap.

I'm looking for ideas on lighting on a sloped ceiling.

I didn't put any windows in my 40x100 shop. Mainly because we are in the middle of nowhere and it's more for security purposes than anything. I do have a 5 ton hvac system slate for install so crosswind is not really needed.

Lighting is a big issue though. I do have more LED high bay lights on the way, just need time to install the rest of them.
