I've always just used a roller and brush, but we have a new house and going to install a few cabinets (that will need paint) as well as paint a couple rooms. Considering getting a sprayer that I can use for a week and then can just toss if needed. Is there anything out there affordable that is good for a few gallons and then be done with it or will I hate myself for getting something cheap? I see a range from $18 habor freight compressed air/gravity sprayers to $1000 ones on wheel that are airless. Any advise appreciated.

I can loan you a sprayer if you are in BCS.

Years ago I used a $15 Harbor Freight purple gun to spray the engine bay of my 300zx. It turned out great, but overspray was massive. The paint/dust gets all over.

I recently bought a Graco X5 for $270 on sale. I used it to paint my garage. Holy crap it went so much faster, but it too tends to get a fine dust all over. Do some homework on airless + low-pressure tips.

Been there done that, would love to give you anything & everything paint, even sprayers - I hate all that so much.

We did paint our cabinet boxes and doors outside to avoid any overspray issues.

Is flooring already in the house where you are wanting to spray ?

Paint sprayers are great. I have a Graco Magnum, but if you don't cover something remotely close to where you are spraying, you'll get paint on it. I tend to only use it if I'm painting a large space or a bunch of items.

Thanks for all the replies. Flooring will not be there. I'll probably just use roller. It's just accent walls in the kids bedrooms really. I'll probably buy the harbor freight to use for the cabinets bc I can section a part of garage to spray them before I install.

I don't like to paint, but when I have to I have found these really handy and easy to clean and use. I roll and my wife does all the cut-ins.

Have you tried any FFLP tips by chance? They require a Rac-X guard. I was going to try it out and then decided to use a brush and Insl-X CabinetCoat on some trim/wanescoting.

Yep, I could be wrong but I think that's what I used to paint my office cabinets. I painted them before I assembled them, still had some paint getting on stuff around it.

I just used my sprayer to paint my 10x12 shed. It's great, I painted the whole outside in 15 - 30 min.

We have an HVLP gun we have used on trim and doors and you're more than welcome to borrow it in NB anytime. We have to do some baseboards next week then we shouldn't need it for awhile.
