We are leaving for 3 weeks and decided with 18 degree weather coming that we should just turn it all off. Turn off at the street, run all the water out of the faucets…

How do we handle tankless hot water heaters?

Anything we need to consider when we turn off water at the street?

I'll follow up with another question I should have asked originally, the furnace? Gas or electric? If it's gas there's no point in looking up shutting the gas off to the water heater in addition to the water.

I ran without water to the gas tankless during the snowpocolypse, but I would look at if it's recommended having the gas on with no water for your unit. ( I doubt it's recommended)

Actually, thinking about it. There should be a valve at the water heater for the gas. I would shut that off and drain it too.

Pay attention when you restart it.

I'd turn the gas to the water heater off if your not running water to it or you'd risk burning up the heating elements.
