1980 Eljer elongated toilet, 6-7 gallon flush, perfect in every way ... maybe a bit too low when users are aging but lower = better/healthier "they say". 2026: Tank rocking around due to rusting bolts so fear of leaks that force a run to meter turn off 100 yrds away in the night, since wall shut off also rsuted closed. Also, cleaning the outlet bowl perimeter holes has become too frequent. Also wall gate valve rusted. DO I really want to get involved on the cheap and time spent on this?
Replaced a few of such 15-20 years ago but now over 70yo, the thrill, ego and spark is not there anymore.
Google, taxags, etc etc all say Toto Drake, even details on Why vs other options locally in stock.
So here we go @ only $100 more than local primo stock so must be ordered.
Houston, a mear 100mi away sends us only junk fast, the rest (like this) begins with "a few days" then delay upon delay.
Great plumber makes it EZ out EZ in, + new ball valve! (Why a gate valve was SOP seems ******ed.)

Results, in comparison with that perfect 1980 Eljer that I hope someone else gets to enjoy after repairs:
Can appreciate Comfort Height (+2"), but hope everything comes out OK during hard times (docs say best to poop low to ground)
Not as elongated
Fatter and the low water level bring fears of skid marks in this larger bowl
1 flush does all at first but ... too soon to celebrate UGH .... all to frequent x2 x3 flushes in these three days of maiden voyage ... have to HOLD down handle for big flush, SIGH
Better fit of tank top, perhaps less chance of breakage when servicing/tweaking? ... yes, the water level there is exactly 1/2" below overflow pipe as prescribed. I feel like it needs more water to do a better job
Gotta draw since me got no grammar MasterArch '76
