Considering installing a MM700 or MM815 above the fireplace.

My height from mantel to ceiling is about 1 inch too short for a 75" TV unfortunately, but plenty enough room for a nice 65".

What was your installation process like? Any watchouts? Figure I need one other person's help to mount the 65"

I have a center stud above the fireplace and the two studs onn either side of the center stud aren't the same distance (16" to the left, 18" to the right) but still seems I can install with the 37" wall plate by mountains on the two outer studs.

I have on my covered patio. Works great for me, except I had to mount it so high that I am the only one who can reach it. Still not sure the motorized one is worth it. The color changing handle actually do work. Installation was easy on the siding I mounted it on, but I had blocking behind it. Also, be aware that it is meant to be either all the way up or all the way down, not anywhere in between.

I also have one on my patio. Installed into stone. I don't lower it much, because I don't watch much tv outside, and I don't mind vegging on the couch to look up as much as I thought i would (probably again because I just don't use it much).

If my main tv was over a mantle, I'd definitely want one. We had a tv like that a few houses ago, and it drove me nuts.

Which model version did you guys go with?

I had thought the gas pistons can keep the TV at any height along the trajectory

I installed the Standard in my daughter's apartment. Installation was fairly straightforward but took some time. Main thing is to make sure you get the lag bolts into the center of the stud.

Had to dig up my old email, as it's been a few years.

I got the MM540. Don't remember anything about why or the differences, though.

When I use mine, I don't pull it all the way down typically. I don't think it's a problem?

I am pretty sure I have the 540. Didn't see the need for the 700.

I have the 540. It works great and is nice to have, but I rarely use it. With 2 kids running around, it's just easier to keep it up higher and my chairs sit far enough away that it doesn't present a viewing angle problem.

We have a Frame TV on a MM. Use it daily and it's been one of the better things we've done to our home when we built it a few years ago. We were very anti TV above the Fireplace but this has worked quite well.

We ended up having our AV guy install it for maybe $100. Well worth it.
