Extended roof over AC units

Looking to extend my driveway abotu 15 ft so that my truck can park on concrete and want to extend the roof line over the truck. Only problem is that it would go over the AC units. There would be probably 8+ ft above the units so wasn't sure if this would impact performance. It would get them out of the sun during summer months, so maybe it would help.

Any input/advice is much welcomed and appreciated. I'm trying to avoid just doing a cover over the truck that needs posts around the AC units and then a 3ft gap between roof and cover.

8' above the top of the unit and obstruction should be fine, but look up the specs for your unit to verify.

Fyi, this random Trane unit requires 5' clear

I cannot see a downside to getting the condenser of your home ac out of the weather and elements provided you met clearance requirements.

Well I have a Goodman, so I'm assuming it's similar specs. I do love that the last picture about water not running straight onto the unit is exactly how mine are installed.

Searh the installation instructions for your unit.

A clearance of 8 feet above the unit should be fine. You just don't want the discharge of the fan to be so contained that it recycles back and comes in the side of the unit over the coil again.

Having the unit in the shade will not really help that much. The unit draws air in through the sides and you're not gonna change the temperature of that air.
