Howdy. I've lived in my house since 2019 and it occurred to me I have never flushed my tankless water heater. I already had most the parts and the pump. I went to do it this evening but the genius who installed the plumbing didn't leave me enough access to attach the washing machine hose to the hot water flush valve. The gas line is in the way. I am ordering a washing machine hose with a 90 degree angle tonight but I'm still concerned there will not be enough clearance to attach the hose. Assuming it does not work, how would you approach this? Disconnect the gas line or adjust the plumbing? Gas line seems the easiest but my only concern is I have never messed with a gas line before. Thanks for any help.

Weird question, but do you live in a condo in Austin? Your setup looks exactly like the one in my condo, including the WH model.

When we flushed ours, we had to disconnect the gas line.

ETA: You should install a street elbow on the gas inlet to avoid this problem in the future.

Corpus. That was my thought as well so I don't have to do this every time. Just frustrating. All the guy had to do was rotate the fitting 45 degrees to make it accessible.

This. Just make sure you use a tape or dope that's listed for natural gas. And when you're done use a bit of water with dish soap to check there's no leak.

You may be able to disconnect the union on the water supply and loosen or tighten the fit of the inlet side of the valve 1/8th of a turn.
