My folks bought a house in CS with non-vented microwave over the stove and they want to remove that microwave and install a vented vent hood. It's a somewhat complex job and may have to go through the exterior brick wall instead of the ceiling. They also want to convert from a gas range to electric.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Is there a gas line run to that area already?

There is a gas line to the existing gas range. We want to convert from gas to electric. There may be 240 volt connection already there for that.

Misread that. So they want to go from gas to electric. Can you post a picture of the existing microwave and cabinets ?

Here it is. Note that this is an exterior wall and the ceiling folds down at an angle to allow for the roofline at the rear of the cabinets.

I really can't believe the city of CS code allows unventilated cooking.

Is the exterior wall 8 ft height ?

Also do you know if the tile backsplash runs all the wall up to the upper cabinet box because the range hood will be much shorter than that microwave is

This is feasible but they also centered the 110 outlet exactly where the duct work would be and it should be on the left or right side of the cabinet box.

I'm pretty sure the tile runs up behind the microwave, but it's hard to tell how far. But it's white subway, so easily matched.

I believe the exterior wall is 8 ft with the ceiling angling down from 10 feet to meet the wall. Top of the wall is the top of the cabinet.
