Howdy,
We cleaned out our dryer vent exhaust tubing this weekend and I decided to replace the external vent. I ended up pulling the solid tubing out of the wall and found that there was a hole in the tubing. It was pushing hot air and lent between my brick and drywall. I need to replace the metal tubing but all the prefab kits are about three inches short. Old house with thick walls. Looks like my options are to buy a 4 inch extension and tap it and tape it or buy longer tubing and find a vent that fits it. What's easiest and what's best from a safety standpoint point? If I buy the longer tubing, do I cut it with snips? Also, can the metal tubing stick out too far on the inside wall where you hook up the dryer exhaust tube? Thanks for any help.
