Anyone up for renewal. Just got a look at mine and holy ****e. Jumped like 30%.

Energy ogre put me on a 7month plan to renegotiate later in the year. Average is going to be like 17c/kwh

I miss the days of 8-9cents

Sounds like you got the same email from Energy Ogre that I got.

2 years ago, I was on a plan that averaged 10 cents. The carrier pulled out of Texas, so I got placed on the last resort - highest rate plan for a month or two. Then, got on a new plan at 15 cents. Now, it's going up again.

Oh well, I just dumped a bunch of money into a highly efficient new HVAC system. My bills electricity bills should remain slightly lower than they are on my current plan.

13 cents average or 13 energy?

What about under 2000 kWh

We have a 1 story that's pretty efficient. Some months we use under 1k.

Ogre might have access to non-public plans when they can call a REP and tell them they're bringing 100 accounts over...

That said... Get on Power2Chose and punch in your zipcode. Then open the plan fact sheets where you can find the actual energy charge and not the one that has all of the fees included. The fees will make lower usage look more when they average everything out as the fees include some that are flat.

7 months from now the general advice it lock in the longest term you can find at a low rate with a termination fee you can swallow IF something happens that drives energy costs way down.

yup

That's what I did. Was shocked. Many plans at 18cents.

I started with power2choose then just went through sites other offerings. I've never been under 2000kwh in a month so I look for lowest average with biggest bill credit

Prices have gone up notably. I renewed in December at 13.6 per KWH at 1000kw with no minimum usage, bill credits, or other shenanigans. 3 years with BKV Energy.

I'm up for renewal in May and the company i used to use for bought out. There was a salesman who would get me below listed prices; no more now.

Is thigbe that bad or hard to sign up for?

I've reached out to Thigbe, twice.

Both times, they've been unable to beat what I've seen on powertochoose, with just two minutes of research.

Maybe you''ll have better luck with them than I have.

Same

Just use Power to Choose and get a 12-36 month contract with lowest ETF you can get.

About this time every year I start wondering if this is the year I buy 4 solar panels, plug directly into a 120v outlet and just see if I can keep Centerpoint off my case until summer is over.

(Don't do this)

I've used Power To Choose, but my best results have occurred by picking up the phone and calling providers.

Tell me more. I've thought of doing this but how much better deals can you get versus power to choose? Are providers pretty willing to bargain?

BKV is the best that I'm seeing in 76179 for longer term options. 36mo term with base energy charge at $0.085833 and Oncor delivery charge at $0.050029 so $.135862 plus the $4.23 Oncor fee. Cancellation fee is $20/mo for remaining months on contract.

Highest usage is typically August and I think it's around 3,000 kWh so my bill should be around $415.

Found a Gexa plan with a $125 bill credit for any month over 2,000 kWh but the math still works out in favor of the BKV plan given that the Gexa energy charges are close to $0.20.
