Received my insurance policy renewals yesterday and I was shocked....pleasantly.

Auto went up <$100 for the 6 months policy.

Home policy went DOWN >$1000.

Had Liere re-run mine. Had already moved Auto, but my home policy was going to go up ~50% and an umbrella policy was going to roughly 7x. Yes, 7 times higher. I think Allstate just wanted out.

No claims on auto, home or umbrella in probably years.

Our $1MM umbrella went up a bit to $349 annually
Nothing outrageous. Cars went down but we're 60+ and drive a '14 and '13 plus sold our soul to the State Farm devil via their drive safe and save program. It has saved us a ton over the last 2 years.

Homeowners renews in August. Not looking forward to that.

Glad to see your homeowner's come down OP. Maybe it's a sign of things finally slowing down. Any chance they updated your coverage? I know a lot of policies have gone to 2% deductibles.

It's been one gut punch after another for Insurance and Property Taxes for the last couple of years. We pay the government more to live in our house than we pay the bank, and insurance isn't far behind. It's ridiculous.

Nice op!

Separate data point. My homeowners went up 100%. 2024 built house, no claims, etc.

It's being shopped, and there are options to get me to a 25% increase, but it's still all absolute BS

The rise isn't over...

We actually got a non-renewal letter for the first time in our lives. It's a policy that covered our rental properties. Too much risk, they say. Never a claim, we put our own roofs on, etc. Shopping now - may have to move our home to that policy & remove a couple of the other ones to stay under their limit.

Until each State's Insurance Commissioner steps up, carriers are going to continue screwing people and getting away with it. The problem is, that most of the commissioners are heavily lobbied and funded by the carriers. We are working with ours in Oklahoma now, and it is amazing how little he knows about things in this industry.

Who's your policy through? Our homeowners policy with USAA just doubled from $4k to $8k. We've always had a low deductible but even with I inquired about changing that it didn't move the needle on the premium. Guess I'm going shopping.

My policy with USAA actually went DOWN $545 this year. I was amazed after a 21% increase last year.

As a data point, our homeowners policy with State Farm went down by approximately $100 this year in Plano. Our auto also went down by almost $200. Home was purchased last year, so this was our first renewal; I was pleasantly surprised.
