Kids broke a window today after school, and when I went to take this trim stuff off, it just crumbled.

Went to Lowe's to get a pane of glass but couldn't find this or know what it's called to even search for it. I looked all around the weather stripping area for doors and windows (where the glass panes are), but no luck.

The window is one seen often, so want to put this trim stuff on.

On an aluminum window, it's called a snap-in window glazing bead.

It appears you have a wood frame window, and if it has a lip to keep the bead in, the snap-in bead should work.

There are different thicknesses, though.

You can also putty a window in, but that wouldn't be my preference.

Good luck.

EDIT: On second look, maybe that's not wood, but aluminum with a 'less-than-factory' paint job on it. I dunno. Either way, I think a see a lip so the snap-in should work.

Thank you. It's an original window from '97, so not the best but works.

It's a vinyl bead as stated but you will likely need to go to a true glass shop to get it. Lowe's probably won't have it and if they do, the associates won't know what it is or where to find it.

As other have stated know as snap bead or vinyl snap bead. Skip Lowes altogether and go straight to a glass company. Lowes will turn into a dog chasing its tail situation, and it will be a day in day out run of the mill thing for a glass company.

Also skip them if you need glass cut unless you want to watch them break perfectly good plates of glass. I had this done once and after 3 sheets broken in half, they finally got it. Not knocking the guy breaking it but I do knock the ones training for it. It's not like screwing in a bulb. There is a skill involved.
