I need to replace my French doors going to the backyard, only one swings open.

I went thru Lowe's but had a bad experience with their measurement and quoting process, so I gave up on them.

The problem is, it's not a normal/off the rack size. So it gets pricey for a custom measurement, at least according to Lowe's.

Any suggestions in the DFW area? Or more generally how to approach this?

If you are close enough to a standard size, have you thought about handling the gap with some trim work?

Custom doors do get pricey unless you are looking at sliders.

The last time I had to deal with a non-standard door size, it was cheaper and easier to modify the rough opening.

We had a really nice home but the sliding door was "trailer sized." Not sure how they ended up building a custom home with this specific size because it was only sold add shady double wide trailer vendors. Ended up tearing it all out and redoing it with a new standard size that was closest to the current size. It looked a ton better than that piece of junk that was in there.

This is true most of the time. Non-standard sizing on doors specifically is a big increase in cost.
