My LG top load crapped out after 7 years. What do y'all suggest? No agitator per my wife.

I think speed queen makes front load washers to fit your no agitator requirement

I'd buy the cheapest machine with the capacity that fits your needs. Every machine I have ever owned was "broken" one like yours someone brought to my scrap pile. Easy to fix. Roper and Whirlpool will outlast all of them. Cheaper machines are cheap because they have less electronics.

My last Roper was 26 years old and I got rid of it because the dryer finally wore the framing out.

I'm a fan of agitators and **** tons water. I want my greasy clothes beaten like they just told my mother "no". I like clean clothes so I look for high INefficiency machines.

Go find yourself a 20 year old Maytag Neptune and buy the parts. I can't get mine to fail.

What's wrong with it? Might be cheaper to just fix it

I currently have a full matching set of this model. The washer "made noise". So I took the washer and dryer for free and put a $50 bearing kit in it and it's been running like a champ so far. It's a little on the small side and we hate front load washing machines but it does work well and quietly.

Agitator deal got worked out. I'm looking at a Speed Queen top loader. They're expensive but come with a 7 year warranty.

I'd look at the TC5. Doesn't have all the extra bells and whistles. Puts a ton of water to wash clothes well, and no lid lock so any forgotten laundry can be thrown in no big deal.

anyone have a all in one washer/dryer combo? My wife likes to start a load of laundry and then forget about it. My dryer is going out so I was starting to look at these. The space savings would be nice too.

Hopefully they no longer have door seals leaks but best to locate over a floor drain = SOP in our designs for decades now.

The long dryer times may be OK if off to work forgetaboutit, no fear of unattended fires and concern some clothes don't get beat to death.

If you have enough room volume for a heat pump, then this version might be ideal.

Consumer Reports picks
  • Samsung WD53DBA900HZ
  • LG WM6998HBA
  • GE Profile PFQ97HSPVDS
Ratings 71-64
Cost est $2100-1735

As for me, 2nd choice to W-D twins might be stacked top-bottom BUT we both work in home studios ....

I'm waiting for my washer to go out to buy one.

I've had a Speed Queen electric dryer for 3 yrs and love it (knocks on wood).

I agree with El Duderino, the TC5 without the lid lock is what I plan on getting.

Our 12-ish year old Samsung top load crapped out recently. All the standard big brands seemed to get equally terrible reviews online, so just bought the cheapest Samsung that met our capacity requirements. Their quality has upset me in other areas (TVs and Fridges), but the washer had worked well and long enough. Works fine I guess. Honestly, it looks and functions almost exactly the same as the old one...not much has changed in a decade plus.

Considered a Speedqueen briefly, but couldn't justify the cost. I'll save the $ for a higher quality brand when my fridge dies...cause no way I am doing Samsung/LG for that.

We love ours. Expensive, but pretty bulletproof.

Another thing about our speed queen is that it removes more water on the spin cycle therefore less drying time.

I got the TC7 delivered this past Tuesday. It was the same price as the TC5 because of a manufacturer discount. Shade of $1900 drive out which includes tax, delivery, haul off. Not cheap but the hope here is it lasts a long ass time. Appliance Outfitters in College Station.
