Random question. We got a fake, prelit Christmas tree this year. Is this thing gonna be okay if I store it in the attic with all the other Christmas stuff or do I need to find a spot in a closet somewhere. Just kinda concerned about the summer heat here in TX messing with it

Home Depot pre-lit artificial trees Always
Post Xmas repack into original box
Store it in outdoor metal shed, tree shaded but no AC, summers over 100F Aggieland

After a few years lights begin to burn out until pretty worthless string - can add more SOP fashion if desired
No other damage
Eventually donated for those having more time to fixRup than do.re.me

BTW we are table top pre-lit tree, old folks now with identical storage routine ... EZ!!!

No advice but I commend you for the effort and ambition of having the tree.

We always kept ours in the attic when we had it through. No problem with heat.

I've been storing my winter holiday centerpiece in the attic for years without an issue.

We have kept our in the attic and in better conditioned space. The lights deteriorate at the same rate regardless.

I bought small 360degree rotating wheels that lock, screwed them to a piece of plywood, and the tree is rolled into a storage closet. I have to remove the top to get throught the door. It is also stored in a bag that you pull up like Randy's jumpsuit in a Christmas story. When we put it up each year the bag slides to the base then draws shut w/a string to make a nice pillow ring hiding the the tree base and rollerboard.

Obviously you have to have the space in a closet, but if that's an option it sure beats lugging it into an attic which we did for years at the last home. The last at least had a walk-in entry from the second floor, but it was still a workout to carry the bagged tree up the stairs if you didn't take it piecemeal and bag at the top.

You would be surprised how often such a closet is requested & planned into our new house designs.
The bag/apron idea is novel, hope we can share that as as option.
