Along with the rest of the perfectly functioning kitchen!

What's the go to/stay away recommendations these days for a standard french door fridge?

Yep. The only good thing about them is they look nice on the outside. Guaranteed to have icemaker issues.

No Samsung (had one before and did not like it)

Have a LG fridge that I've been very happy with.

Have a GE dishwasher I am not impressed with but it does it's job - came with the house and would not replace it with the same unit if I needed to.

I have the Samsung 4 door flex fridge and I love it. The ice maker was completely redesigned for this model, and I have had zero issues after several years.

I believe several other manufacturers make a very similar 4 door model now. It truly can't be beat for size and organization.

Had an LG for about 12 years then it up and died. The replacement Samsung popped a leak and dumped the refrigerant about six months in.

Is it the one with the ice maker in the bottom drawer? Hopefully that design works better. The one in the upper door sucks.

One in the door works great…

When you stuff the gasket with backer rod, push the hopper door closed, periodically clear out the hopper of ice, melted ice drippings, reformed ice, and then leave it alone.

We've had the Samsung 4-door flex for 4-5 years now with zero issues.

We also have a Fisher Paykel built in that's been solid as well.

It's not really in a drawer. It's on the top shelf of the left hand freezer unit. The ice maker is capable of making 2 bins of ice, but you can turn off half the unit and make one bin, which is what I do (I don't use much ice).

It also makes little squares of ice, maybe the size of a chiclet, rather than large cubes or half moons.

Frigidaire Gallery cost effective and ice maker is not in the door has a convertible drawer

That one is $2550 at Costco.

We bought same model but no ice in the door. Really like the interior lights, soft close drawers and the small refrigerator door for meat. The main doors are thicker than our previous French door refrigerator and hits on the left cabinet if you want to open 120 degrees. Could pull the refrigerator out from wall more but it isn't a real issue.

We have KitchenAid. They've been good thus far.

Whatever you do, get full depth. counter depth are tiny inside.

Since you'll be remodeling your kitchen soon, put a deeper cabinet for the fridge

Samsung is junk. Thats what we currently have (and yes, we have ice maker issues).

Next one will be KitchenAid. (LOVE my kitchen aid dish washer)

+1 on Samsung 4 door flex. I also swore I would not get another Samsung after ice maker issues on 2 door, but I love the 4 door flex. No issues after 4 years

I've had Samsung twice now and no issues. But I also hate ice on the fridge door, so i get the model without it. I still have water on the side in the fridge, but no ice up top.

Both times they were French door, fridge on top, freezer bottom. Sold one with my house once and bought again in my second house.

I feel that prevents many issues, not having ice on the door.

I think they all have icemaker issues - I don't think that's specific to Samsung. We have a Kitchen Aid, also with icemaker issues.

Just get one that looks cool and practical. None of them will have working icemakers in 10 years. They don't make them like they used to...

Had LG for about six years before we lost our house to a fire. Planning to rebuild now and would definitely consider LG again.

I don't believe any of them are built like they used to be the LG seem to be pretty solid.

We had a Samsung fridge and had icemaker issues like everyone else. My in-laws bought the same refrigerator had the same issues.

Bosch is really good and I have probably owned/or at least been responsible (elderly parents and in laws) for them all at one point.

I agree with this. They are expensive, double (or more) other types, but worth every penny if you are going to be in the house for years to come. It may outlive you.

However, it is a 'built-in'. All built-ins are shallow due to it being flush with adjacent cabinetry. They are taller (10-14" taller depending on the model), but still not the storage capacity of a standard or even counter-depth fridges.

Be careful, if your SO visits a Wolf/SubZero showroom you may need a financial advisor (or a lawyer).

I wouldnt get any with an icemaker in the refrigeration section. I read once that the difference humidity is what causes the issues with them in the refrigeration's section doors.
