Don't know, but hopefully they've got some room in their pocket for a little spare Chang.

Yes, about 23,000 people.

But really. I don't work there but know several people who do. It generally takes several months to work your way through the process, and you have to apply to lots of jobs to have a good chance of getting through. Even having a recommendation doesn't help much.

I'm open to anything. Getting out of the military and planning on starting my MBA in the fall, so something for 2-3 years.

Their website has 200+ job openings for San Antonio. I was wondering if it would be more effective to apply for 30-40 openings, or target only 3 or 4.

Apply to everything that seems like a fit. That's how my friends got in.

Call & talk to HR, a slew of Aggs work there. Some attend game watching parties, live in my neighborhood, babysit my kids... Generally a better idea to cast a wide net & BPT receive no response to 90% of them. My nephew worked there briefly before coming to my office, & we have discussed the process extensively. He went through a special program to pull in officers. Try the military board.

I work at USAA. Apply online - your military background should carry some weight in the application process.

Good luck & let me know if you have any specific questions. I am in tax so I don't have a ton of HR type knowledge.

There may or may not be a totally unofficial Aggies at USAA get together on the 21st at Ajuua Mexican Grill at 5:30ish.

Also, posting to a million different jobs will do you no good. There may or may not be a keyword search that's performed on all resumes that come in. No tailoring = no interview. If your resume never sees human eyes, it doesn't matter if your Donald Duck or Donald Trump.

From my nephew who worked there:

In re USAA: Apply to everything but make tailored applications/resumes for each position. They don't need to be radically different but specific to the job. I went through the Junior Military Officer program so I may not be the best person to ask.

Wow had no idea that there were so many people trying to work at usaa that they have that type of screening process.

It's very difficult to get in. But with a military background it'll help. Are you an officer? JMO wouldn't be a bad place to look.

Helps keep HR costs down. The HR dept is actually pretty small for a Fortune 200 company.

I applied for several positions through their online system, but it is showing that my resume hasn't even been looked at. Some of the positions I applied for over a month ago. Would anyone be willing to take a look at my resume? I'm concerned about it being stuck in the black hole mentioned earlier in the thread.

KJ doesn't really work in IT. She just sits around in campsites reading her phone all day.

I have a bit of knowledge that may help you understand why your resume may not have been reviewed. since I previously worked there. At one point, they maintained 30K plus resumes so make sure your resume is very specific to a job. Once your resume is submitted, I'd suggest calling a few days later and see if you can speak to someone in HR. Also, because of the large number of resumes they receive, the database is purged something like every 6-9 months.

If you're open to working for other insurance companies, I believe The Hartford and Nationwide have offices in San Antonio.

Best of luck in your job search.
