So this place has been around 3-4 years, and the city is just now getting around to shutting them down because the the food truck doesn't have a health department permit and doesn't have a occupancy permit.

And then the city will let them re-open under a temporary permit

When did I move to the RGV?

I ate there about 3 years ago. The chicken was really good, but everything else I heard about the place was pretty shady.

If I had to guess it would be one of these:
1) The restaurant employees 40 people and the city doesn't want to displace them,
2) The owner has a medical issues with both wife and child and the city doesn't want the 1000 patrons the place has making a stink about it,
3) It's on Rigsby so nobody really cares (I just go there for a lumber yard)

#3 is probably the correct answer.

This owner is one ****ty-ass neighbor. The amount of smoke I see every time I drive by is pretty insane.

Some of my coworkers have spent a significant amount of time in Mexico. Their comment, "I thought all chicken places had a bunch of smoke. *shrug*"

I'm surprised the smoke hasn't caused an accident on Rigsby yet.
