I did a search and haven't found a new thread on this since 2014. I know there are not a ton of people doing it but Do y'all have any recommendations?

I had my eyes done 4 weeks ago with Manrique in La Cantera. Great results so far.

Why against the recommendation? It's too late for me but was curious.

I'm happy with my results. I used Tomy Starck at Ultravision.

My wife and I had Dr. Starck perform our LASIK as well. Seven years later still best money I ever spent.

There really is no such thing as "best technology in LASIK" in SA despite all the silly names and acronyms assigned to the procedure. Every LASIK doctor in SA uses the EXACT same lasers and performs the procedure in the EXACT same way. The difference is in how you are treated before and after the procedure, and of course, cost.

There are some doctors that perform a "cattle call" type of procedure. You may see an optometrist or a tech only for your pre-op and post-op appointments. You may only see your actual doctor for 15 minutes on the actual day of your procedure. You will be one of 50+ people that day having the procedure done and will be treated as such. If you have a complication during or after the procedure, the doctor may simply send you to a different ophthalmologist in town. Your doctor may not even live in your city and only show up once every few months to perform LASIK and then disappear.

Unfortunately, most of the doctors who advertise on the radio fall into the above group.

She's not a cattle call doc like the ones the poster mentioned above. She's very thorough and you'll see her through every step of the evals, procedure, and follow-ups.

I have not had it done but two close friends who are both surgeons had Tomy Stark do their LASIK surgery probably 4-5 years ago. And both of them are still happy with their results.

And Dr. Starck does live here in SA.

And "no", I have no affiliation with Dr. Starck or the optometry/opthalmic business at all.

I heard Dr. Manrique can get you Eagle Eye Vision. Or is that Raulito Pena? I always get their commercials mixed up!

I went to Dr. Stark 10 years ago and go to his office every year for a check up. Highly recommend.

Just to chime in, I know Dr. Starck and highly recommend him. I was definitely not referring to him in the earlier post.
