I am looking at a home off of Overlook Parkway and like it alot but am having difficulty determining where the schools are located. I understand Comal is a good school district and there is an elementary school down the road for my 5 and 7 year olds but my map says the middle school and high school are 20-25 mIles away. Is that correct? That seems like a long way am I missing one that is closer?

I can't imagine driving 30 or 40 minutes in traffic to drop my kids off at school.

I moved into a home off Overlook in late 2014 and love the area. My wife and I don't have kids yet but I've kept an eye on the growth plans for Comal ISD. A bond was passed in mid 2015 that will build 2 new middle schools with one being in Kinder Ranch which is just north of Borgfeld and is only a mile or so north of Overlook. The bond doesn't say anything specific about a new high school but there was a small allocation to purchase land on the east side of 281 in the southern part of the school district which around Overlook. That may be for a new high school but I'm not sure. I can't imagine they will get by much longer with only Smithson Valley in our area.

Let me know if I can help with any other questions.

Wife is curious about grocery shopping, is the Hardy Oak HEB the closest? We live in Champion Springs in Stone Oak now and hit that HEB up every now and then.

That's the HEB we go to. It's the closest for us and is never all that busy. I won't go to Evans/281. Aside from going there, there is a gas stations close off canyon golf and a small shopping center on Overlook with a pharmacy, dry cleaners, Doctor's office, pizza, liquor store and a small bar that shows most big games, fights, etc.. It's super quiet around here and Overlook is about 98% built up so it won't ever get much busier along the road.

Thanks for the input, we have been looking for about a week and that house is our favorite so far, good ones are going quick so we may need to throw down an offer.

No problem. Good luck. There seems to be a new foundation being poured in my neighborhood every few days. It's a pretty desirable area right now. Most builders are still advertising that there are no city taxes but that won't be for long. This area is on the list of places the city wants to annex. I've always wondered if that would ever affect the school district boundaries too but I have no idea.

I can't imagine it would.

Timberwood Park entered into a non annexation agreement with the City of San Antonio. Not 100% sure of the exact term, but it was 20+ years.
