I'm sorry.

I'm sorry if you have to drive in that mess on your way to/from work. Holy moly. Haven't been down that stretch in a few years since we moved away from SA. Went to visit friends yesterday and couldn't believe the mess of cars. And no wrecks. Just congestion.

You should have seen it this morning when the traffic lights went out at 410 and Bandera. Radio said it was backed up to Braun.

That stretch from 410 to Grissom is particularly bad.

I usually take a different route if I can help it, though.

I work downtown, and I began skipping the 410/Bandera hassle by taking the Babcock exit on 410, then taking Babcock to Eckhert, and Eckhert to Bandera.

I tested this against taking Bandera three times during spring/summer/fall, and each time taking Babcock reduced my total drive time by 15 minutes.

I honestly believe that the traffic signals in the Leon Valley stretch of Bandera are timed to favor the side streets. It's like a subliminal "if you lived here, you'd be home by now" from the Leon Valley government.

..or more likely, they're just morons.

They've screwed with the Austin Hwy and Nacogdoches lights here and it's driving me quickly insane.

Having grown up in that area (Marshall c/o '92), this is most definitely the case. Poor man's Alamo Heights syndrome...

I'm not sorry. Why anyone would live in that area is beyond me, especially when you have to drive through it for work.

Move somewhere else.

Tacos?

I keep seeing great reviews for taco joints along that stretch.

I actually went to a breakfast place, Courtyard Cafe, and it was really tasty. I got a jambalaya omelet, cheesy grits, and a biscuit with some kind of jalapeno jam that was excellent.

I like Bandera Rd in the morning. The stop and go traffic gives me a chance to eat my tacos.

There is nowhere in our God-forsaken city where traffic isn't an absolute mess.

Want to solve a debt crisis? Line up the city planners and auction off the right to kick them in the 'nads.
