Howdy, I have some interest from a company in Shiner for a job. I don't care to live in a small town - I prefer all the amenities that come from living around a big city. So, commuting into Shiner is something I'm looking into - perhaps living in the outskirts of the San Antonio area. I was curious for those familiar with that side of town what would you do? I can do up to about a 45 minute commute.

It's about an hour and half commute from the downtown area, but traffic would be light. It would be much easier from Seguin/New Braunfels

I've been doing the SA to Seguin (and back) each workday for almost 5 years. It's about 47 miles each way and about the same in minutes of drive time.

While I don't mind the drive time, it does suck putting 100 miles on my truck each day.

Shiner is pretty far from San Antonio proper. New Braunfels would probably be your best bet, and even that will be over an hour on a good day.

Yea, the more I look into the possibilities, the more I leaning to just pass on this. I just can't figure a comfortable commute out. Oh well.

Thanks for all the feedback though - I appreciate it.

I commuted New Braunfels to Gonzales a while and wouldn't do it again. Shiner is too far off I10 to get there quick. On a good day you're sailing. On a bad day there are 17 trucks hauling chickens and oilfield materials and you get to add another 30 min to your already 1+ hr commutes. If you aren't willing to move or it's not something short term to lead to something really great, don't do it.

Not so much with the oilfield materials now.
