CROSS POSTED ON RE BOARD.
My soon-to-be fiancee just accepted a job in the area and I have started to look for houses for an eventual summer/fall 2017 close date. Could even push to winter if we can't find the right house.

  • Any good recommendations on places to live? We are both used to large cities and 30-45 minute commutes, so distance really isn't a huge factor to us. The closer to 35 the better though, as I travel for work and will be heading to the airport every Monday morning.
  • Any chance someone on the board is a realtor or has worked with a good one lately on their own relocation?

If this isn't the right board, feel free to point me elsewhere.

A few good realtors and mortgage lenders post here. 30-45 min commute to nb will get you some mileage as she will be driving against traffic. I live within a few miles from the air port and can get to nb in 45 min most days. Good luck. Y'all are going to live it here

A lot of new development in NB and just south of NB towards SA. I live in Schertz, right off of I35 and there are several houses in this area for sale (Northcliffe) and there is a brand new development being built here as well (Homestead). I am 10 minute drive from NB and I also travel quite a bit. The drive to the airport is about 25-30 mins during normal traffic times, but I will warn you that if you head to the airport during morning business rush, it can take up to and maybe over an hour.

Fido got it in first! But just in case, my wife is also a realtor @ Reliance Residential Realty and would also be happy to help.

I agree with everyone else; the commute can make or break you. Wherever you want to look...go try the commute to where you are going to work at 7:15 and 5pm.

congrats.

Be prepared - there's a good chance real estate is more expensive that where you are moving from.

I work near the SA airport and it takes right at 40 min each way.

I'm coming from Preston Hollow area of Dallas, so I've been encouraged to see more reasonable house prices, actually!
