Went back 6 pages and didn't see any related topic. I tried to replace my shower faucet and did no better than it was, would like a good plumber to take a look at it and see what can be done. It is losing it's hot water side a little bit. When I took it apart today, there were no visible obstructions or issues. I flushed my hot water heater a couple of months back and had some major calcium build up in a couple of faucets that I had to clear out, would like a professional to look it all over. Hate the thought of what they are going to hit me for.

I replaced the hot water heater 6-7 years ago and it should still be in pretty good shape.

I know the guy that owns Quarter Moon. They'll charge a fair price and stand behind their work. You may pay a little more than some of the cheap guys, but, I do know that they do a thorough job of vetting employees and are not afraid of firing anyone that they have any problems with.

What kind of valve do you have?

You might need to pull the cartridge and soak it in vinegar overnight and rinse to remove the limescale.

You put in a new shower valve?

Can you clarify what exactly you did? The faucet won't affect the temperature of the water.

I replaced one shower/bath stem, that was pretty easy, no issues.




For the shower only, it is the ball assembly type and the rubber/spring fittings inside the unit seemed to be in good shape with no scale.



It seems like it doesn't get as hot as it used to, need to move the handle more towards the hot side when the water is running.

Still a little worried I got some excessive scale buildup somewhere when I flushed the hot water heater. I don't see why I had it show up in a couple of the faucets, I had it draining through a hose to the outside. Sorta why I need a real plumber to show him in person because it's confounding the hell out of me.
