Cross posted on auto board, only one response so far and wonder if posting here might gain a little more traction.
Have a vehicle blowing cool, not cold, conditioned air from the vents. Has worked fine up until this summer, under heat load it doesn't feel like it is cooling like it has in the past or as it should be. System works, compressor clutch engages with no cycling outside of what appears to be normal operation, no indication of freezing, vents set properly, same effect whether it is outside air or recycled air.
Haven't tried thermometer in vent test yet, will give it a go later today.
If a visit to a shop is indeed called for, am hopeful a simple refrigerant collection and a system vacuum pull which holds value results in only the need for a refrigerant recharge.
What I'm looking for is a referral to a shop who is willing and able to troubleshoot with good effect before going straight to compressor/condensor/evap replacement. I know in the end one or more may happen if a leak or compromised component is found.
Am in north central SA, just inside 1604, between 281 and I-10.
