Does anyone know if the Fightin Texas Aggie Band will be playing at the Battle of Flowers Parade this year?

We have been going since I was a kid and this is without a doubt the best part of the parade.

That sounds interesting. Is it easy to get to a viewing area?

There have been a couple years where they haven't performed. I remember Tech was there a year or two.

Ring weekend is that same weekend and wasn't sure if the band/corps would still make an appearance at the parade.

FTAB won't be here this year.

Sure, if you camp out for 3 days. Now you don't have to.

I wonder if Mayor Dip**** and Judge F-head are coming up with ways to close off areas just in case the Covids comes around again.

My old man purchased seats close to the start of the parade from a local church. Still had plenty of tickets earlier this week.

Now parking will be a different issue.

Keep in mind the parade route has changed for this year due to ongoing construction on Broadway.

Yes. The route now starts on Main Street next to SAC. Angle left onto Lexington, left on St. Mary's, right on Brooklyn, right on Ave E, wind around the front of the Alamo and then right on Commerce. Parade ends on Commerce and St. Mary's. Odd route but it has to miss overhead traffic lights as much as possible. TV cameras are in Crockett park near the start of the parade route. 10:00 AM on TV.

Any suggestions on getting to parade? We have seats near Brooklyn and Broadway. Were thinking of driving and finding parking around SA Museum of Art, somewhere off of Jones, or over of N. Alamo. How much of a cluster will it be around there vs. other parts of parade route? Or should we just Uber it to area and walk?

I think I would look at parking at Central or Providence. I would also use McCullough to get in and out of the area.

Either way you get in, this or uber, expect some walking.

Not sure what time they will close St. Mary's and McCullough intersection so either go early or avoid that area. Entry to the parade route down Broadway would be pretty easy. Lots of parking south of the Pearl along in there. You also could just park at the Pearl and walk down the river to your seats.

So we ended up parking over on Cherry St under the Hays walking bridge and walked over. Easy access to Brooklyn with no traffic at all going in or out. Need to make this a big group event next year, bring coolers, do some day drinking, hit up a brewery or two afterward.

I thought the parade went very well. A few glitches because of the new route and folks being out of practice.
