This past weekend at Bitters and Walker Ranch (Bluffview area) an 80 year old man was turning into the subdivision. The man was rear-ended as he turned. He pulled in on Walker Ranch to exchange info when at least 2 guys go out of the offending car and beat the 80 year old with a baseball bat and then stole his car.

Lesson here is do not get out of your car unless it is obviously a safe situation. If you feel unsafe stay in your car and call 911 and tell them you need an ambulance. That way EMT and Fire will respond immediately and, hopefully, the police.

This 80 year old is in critical condition. Surprised the local media has not reported on this.

The dramatic crime increase is shocking. I sure hope this man recovers and the thugs get a quick trip to Hell. We are importing crime at a rapid rate.

I just told my wife to be wary of any surprise interactions like this and to always be aware of her surroundings. This is probably within a half mile of our neighborhood.

Yep, definitely in my area. Sounds like the new strategy, get a **** car and pop someone and then steal theirs. I'm carrying 100% now while in my car and will tell my wife, daughter, mother in law, and sister in law to be much more vigilant. We are all pretty close to that area.

It's not like he was in the neighborhood he was on a heavily patrolled part of Bitters where Hill Country Village cleans up on speeders
The police had the streets blocked off and took the matter very seriously
Hell the helicopters are always quick to be dispersed and I remember your held up situation

For sure. We carry everywhere. The only places we don't carry are those that have visible metal detectors that are manned. There was a time when I respected proper signage but that ship sailed about 3 years ago. I'll take my chances.

I hadn't been carrying on a daily basis. That's over now.

BTW, I refuse to run away to some other community. I'm not going to capitulate. I am a ****ing United States Marine and I am not intimidated by any man. If given the chance I will stand and fight. I was once a better shot than 95% of the Los Angeles Police and I can get back up to speed very quickly.
