Looking at getting a fire pit for my place for deer season. I've been looking but haven't had any luck with what I'm looking for. I would like at least a 36" diameter shallow bowl with a swivel grate on top for cooking hamburgers and steaks. Also the grate material going around the outside for a beer holder or foot rest. Buck and Does had one and I waited too long now starting search over.

Try BBQ outfitters on 1604, btwn Locke Hill Selma and NW Military. They're a dealer for Hang'em High. We've had our pit for 10 years.. holding up great. Hang'em High has a website with a dealer locator.

We have this in our backyard and enjoy it. Orvis also has a 15% off coupon right now. Heck of a deal.

Seems like I've seen similar at HEB.

Thanks for the recommendation. That's exactly what I'm looking for and I just need to go to BBQ outfitters and order one now.

Have you called the pit man? He's on the OB but he also has a Facebook page. He is who I'd check first.

He is on the OB.

You may have "missed the window", but you can approach any high school with a reasonable Ag Mechanics* program. I judge in San Antonio and also New Braunfels the following week. We always have several in NB. Often our projects are built for an individual who approaches the school, pays for the materials, and takes possession after the show judging. You can work with them to build exactly what you want.

* the caveat is that all high school Ag programs focus on the animals but many are somewhat "lacking" when it comes to Ag Mech. The good news is that fire pits are a pretty simple project, although can be customized (Aggie logo or bling, if the school has a plasma cutter.
