I may not be a good source for answer. I'm 76 and never had an allergy until a year ago. Had lived around Houston since 77 and moved to Smithson Valley 11 years ago. Last year had issues with mountain cedar which never really let up until the season was over in spite of the meds.

This year my NP wife said to get ahead of it. I started daily Zyrtec in late Nov. Haven't had any issues this year. No idea if it's because I started early or because I don't normally have allergies

Go get a steroid shot - it'll holds you over until at least the cedar disappears (and the oak starts)

If your eyes are bothering you I highly recommend Zaditor eye drops. They're OTC and available everywhere. I have used them the last 3 years when cedar kicks up and they're so helpful.

I moved to SA about 15 years ago and had never had allergies until finding out about Cedar Fever. Suffered through it the first couple of years. Then and went and got allergy tested. Would have been weekly shots during the season. They actually recommended the HEB branded Zyrtec and Flonase. They were specific about that because they are supposedly formulated for Texas allergies.

I'm not a doctor by any means, but it has worked for me for about the last 8-9 years.

Worst I've ever had it...Told my wife we might have to move if this gets worse. I feel like I can hardly go outside. I'm hoping this rain will give us a little break. Just got a referral to an allergist.

Cedar has never bothered me, but wifey is torn up more this year than most. She's a daily zyrtec/flonase user and that usually knocks it out, but this year not so much.

the cedar usually gives new people a pass, but once you lock into a mortgage, gain 47lbs, cedar hits you with a shovel

My wife has been doing pretty well on Xyzal for years. This year had her in bad shape. I gave her some of my prescription Montelukast and it really improved things. Ask your doc for it, it helps both of us!

Found a new nose spray. Two weeks now. All symptoms gone.

AstePro

Right next to Flonase at HEB.

I did allergy shots for 5 1/2 years when I lived in Tennessee. They did wonders for me.

There was so much cedar pollen in the air recently that it affected me. I would likely have been violently ill without the shots.

This has been my combo, as well. Has kept me in pretty good shape.
