I never did understand why the Air Force always had the most cadets at A&M. Also the Army ROTC always was quite a bit larger than Naval ROTC in my time. I'm surprised to see that Army ROTC had the smallest share of the fish this time.

At Norwich we are expecting 271 freshmen in the Army department. Not sure about the other ROTC departments, but we are quite a bit larger than they are. The Army being the smallest there at A&M is surprising....dont know why, but I thought we would be much larger there.

So that's just outfit numbers really, correct? There's no way that those are contract numbers

Remember Jock, all fish are required to take ROTC so no, it's not contract numbers.

Just simply the branch in which they will be taking ROTC classes. Thought some might find it interesting.

It probably means that the individual outfits who recruited better are Air Force and Navy not necessarily anybody choosing those two services over the Army.

Unless things have changed, the fish should be assigned to outfits matching their initial choice of branch for ROTC classes.

It has gone back and forth over the years. Not sure what the policy is now, but from at least 2004-2008 I believe you could be in any ROTC and any outfit. I think in 2008/2009 they tried shifting it to force you into an outfit based off your ROTC. Not sure what it is now.
