I was at the UTEP game, and there was a table set up where Aggie veterans could write their name on a sticker, and they would attach it to an American flag and display them on campus on Veterans Day. I had a high school and Aggie friend of mine pass away on 10/31. He served two tours in Viet Nam, one flying hueys in support of special forces, and the second tour he flew Cobras. I asked if I could fill one out for him and I did. I told his widow at the visitation tonight what I had done and she was so moved that I would like to make a road trip to the campus and photograph his flag and my flag. Anyone know where they will be displayed? How long they will be displayed? I will drive from DFW to do this if I can find this info and send her photos. TIA. We were both class of 67.

From http://tamutimes.tamu.edu/2013/10/31/texas-am-plans-events-to-honor-veterans/#.UnsI6HCsiSo

quote:

A Class Council flag ceremony is planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., adjacent to Rudder Plaza. Students will have the opportunity to honor a veteran by placing a flag.

That is the flag for Jim Payne '67, displayed by 11-11 Day. Thanks to all who helped me honor a good friend, a good Aggie, a proud veteran and a hero. RIP Jim.
