Anyone ever done this?

Wife and I will partner with another family to adopt 6-8 Soldiers currently in basic training and have them over on Christmas day.

Hope its not too awkward for them that 2 senior company grade officers and their spouses are doing it. Either way, should be a good time. No one should be alone during the holidays.

We can adopt basic training Soldiers (those not going on Holiday Block Leave) and bring them in for a day. Must be back and report in by a certain time

Good program...its been done for years.

I did it with AIT Soldiers while at TRADOC. We had a fantastic time. Three families in our housing area got together to host about 25 Joes. Probably one of the best holidays I can remember.

They limit to 4 Soldiers per family now...at least at Fort Sill. Should be a great time though.

Ait or another mos school I can see... But boot camp? I had always chalked this up as another stress card-esque myth.

They let all the basic training Soldiers go home for Holiday Block Leave anyway....every year and has been that way for as long as I can remember. Those staybacks are eligible for adopt a soldier...otherwise they are occupied some other way. Just for a few hours though.

But you are right...probably not the same as it used to be. Its a different military.
