A good buddy of mine is trying to raise money to help his cousin purchase another Aggie Ring after his was stolen in a home invasion. If you have any questions or like to donate go to the following site.

I'm trying to raise $1.3 Million so I can buy a house on the beach in Australia. Could some Aggies find it in their heart to help me out?

This is dumb. You donate money to someone in need. Not someone who wants to buy jewelry. If he can't afford to buy a new ring, he shouldn't buy it. Simple as that.

He could buy a silver ring. It's popular at the Qatar campus. It's less than $300.

B-1 IDMA 05 - could have been worse. I didn't even say anything about your buddy being an Ord Ord.

Seriously though - if you want some $$$ from me, I'm going to need to know why the ring was off his finger and the play-by-play on how the home was "invaded" and the life or death decisions that went down and the considerations about making the thief pry his Aggie Ring from his cold dead hands. What would Charlton Heston have done?

Otherwise, this just reeks of millennial entitlement. Hey guys. My buddy is an Aggie. He had a misfortune. Please give money.

A good story will get paid off. One that can be corroborated in the news media is even better.

Meanwhile, if you do feel like donating to my cause, I'm only about $50K underwater on my house in California now. So I only need about $90K to pay the bank and the realtors so I can sell it and get out and buy a place in Sydney. Otherwise, I'll just man up and take care of my bad decisions on my own. Your buddy should do the same. There's probably a Facebook I-1 group where he might get a better response. What I saw online didn't meet my sympathy threshold. Sorry.

That's not just TexAgs, that's life. Helping animals (especially cute ones) is going to trump helping people every time. See animal evacuation after Katrina

Ok, well I'm saving up to buy a new car. If I give you my address, can you send me some cash? If not... Stop whining!

]Interesting dichotomy. Ridicule of an Ag who was the victim of a home invasion. Overly generous donations to ship an old War Hero overseas.

TexAgs is a strange place.

Why so grumpy? You raised the money you wanted.

I think the push back you're getting is not that it's not a worthy cause. I think it's because it's not a BIG cause. It would be nice for him to have a ring, but not a big deal or life-changing event. He's not saved the money himself in the past seven years, so one assumes it's not a huge priority. Also, you really didn't explain why he didn't replace the ring himself.

I think mainly it's because you're attacking the problem with a chainsaw when a scalpel is required.

Folks come to TexAgs when 10s of thousands of dollars are needed. For a thousand bucks, I would have gone to his family and his buddies from his outfit. My BQ buds have kicked in on several things through the years along these same lines.

Regardless, he sounds like a good guy and I'm glad he's getting his ring replaced.
