My son has been accepted into A&M for fall 2014 and plans to join the Corps. He received a Corp scholarship. He also applied for Easterwood Scholarship but has not heard anything.
Have the Easterwood Scholarships already been awarded?
Will he get a yes or no response, or are only the recipients notified?

I got my Easterwood Scholarship a few weeks into my freshman year. This was a while ago, so I don't recall exactly how far into the year it was, but I'd say at least 2-3 weeks.

My quick read is that an Easterwood is offered to students who express an interest in the Corps.

My guess is that they don't actually award it until a few weeks into the semester, to guarantee it only gets paid to folks who show up and appear to be staying.

Makes me think of an admissions fairy tale. Some claim that if you say on your application that you intend to join the Corps, you're automatically admitted. The tale tellers can't seem to realize that if true, every one who fills out an application would express an interest, then just not join the Corps after admittance.

Easterwood scholarship committee doesn't meet until early April. I would expect awards should go out by mid April but I'm not exactly sure. Easterwood Scholarship is managed by A&M Scholarship/Financial Aid Office but it only goes to those with Corps interest. Must actually join Corps for scholarship to actually pay.
