Parents? Cadets? How was having the review on Simpson compared with it on Kyle?

This was our first year. Never seen it at Kyle, but it looked darned impressive at Simpson. Looked like something you'd see in an old photograph.

Would've been better if Corps Staff followed the plan, and let the band get into place before Passing in Review.

There wasn't much seating available, or cover. Cadet-wise, it wasn't too bad. It was a hell of a lot more informal, but gave it more of an Old Army feeling.

From the BQ standpoint, it was alright. Wish we hadn't had to run 2 hours worth of practicing for it to go as terrible as it did.

It was nice. Much nicer than in Kyle Field because there was actually a breeze. It was nice to see the cadets in Bravos instead of Summer-A's (which I hated as a cadet).

As for seating for the parents, the conversations I could hear sounded just fine and if anyone noticed the difference from previous years they really didn't seem to care.

I believe pass-in-reviews look better on Simpson than in Kyle anyways.

Why Final Review at Simpson was moved to Kyle (2001 ?) bop could NEVER fathom. N E V E R !

(Something about a monsoon and cadets getting shoes and boots all wet. Don't think there was much complaining about seating for parents and guest.)

TRADITIONALLY Final Review was held out on that Drill Field (Simpson) for around 83 years.

2014 Parents Day Review and 2014 Final Review will make a brief re-appearance but...an Old Army ceremonial connector to New Army died in 2001.

Wait until the Trigon gets the rental rate for the new-and-improved Kyle Field for a review....We'll be back at Simpson permanently.

Plus, new Kyle won't have a track anymore and you know how persnickity the AthDept is about their turf.

Having been to both, we enjoyed this years review much better. The breeze was nice and this years seemed a little more intimate. Kyle Field is so big, it seems to dwarf the entire ceremony. I hope it stays at Simpson.

I was a cadet when it was moved ('99-'03). While I recall the "monsoon" quite well, I don't recall being a factor in the decision to move it. Also, I recall the decision to move wasn't popular with cadets - we wanted it to stay at Simpson too.

With no track around Kyle Field they should just do it like the Academies do Where you March in and emplace yourself in the field. I think at that and then when you have the entire Cadet Corps to clear out before practice begins, it also allows underclassmen to get to their seats before kick off. I missed a grand totatl of three touchdowns (1 per year on kick offs or first two plays being touchdowns). Sadly due to my lack of skills in romance during college it only was one kiss I missed.
