Just got voluntold, not happy about it.

Do you know the location yet? Hope for the south, as it is much easier to meet mission in the south than the north. I had one friend who recruited in Omaha, and cleaned house. Had one who recruited in Ft Smith, Arkansas, and his life sucked. I know these two examples are the exception to what I stated above, but hope for the south or deep south. Good luck, most do not like their time recruiting.

Grunt...I feel your apprehension. I had to do it myself back in 97-00. Los Angeles of all places. I disliked it to no end. Never worked so hard in my life. I hear it is much better now. The 2200 hour nights and long Saturdays are not allowed anymore.

The good news is that recruiting duty is about to become a "hard assignment" for promotion boards, like drill/etc. Maybe that will give you a silver lining

Tango, Armor branch has always looked favorably upon SUCCESSFUL recruiting duty. I do not know if Ag grunt is an Officer or Enlisted, but I have never come into contact with an Officer who did the recruiting who had considered it a pleasant experience.

Hopefully with the draw down the mission will have eased off some. I had another friend who took on his stations female mission, and did real well. He was a straight shooter and the females felt comfortable around him, so he easily made mission each month. Find your niche and fill it. Oh, and good luck

When they tell you to do your location wish list, don't put a BN/BDE on there you don't want to be in. As in, nowhere on the list. I put SoCal as my ninth and last choice. I recruited in San Diego. Talk about wanting to suck start a 9mil. Glad to hear they got rid of the late nights and all day Saturdays. Smaller mission sounds nice, too.

A buddy of mine recently finished up his recruiting duty in California somewhere. He said the last two years he wasn't even recruiting but rather going through applications.

Tombdaddy, I know what you're saying but the bad thing is I HAVE to choose 3 BN's in 3 BDE's. I don't want anything outside 2 BDE's in the south.
So I'm probably gonna pick the 3 in Texas, 3 in the south and after that I'm clueless and could probably just toss 3 darts at a map.
