I had a discussion with a friend of mine regarding Memorial Day and fireworks shows. He was wondering why fireworks weren't sold during Memorial Day weekend. I told him fireworks should be for celebrations, not memorials. I told him Memorial Day is all about rememebering the fallen...not celebrating it. Then I saw on Facebook where some frineds attended a fireworks show...I was dumbfounded. Your take?

Bad Bull.

Celebrating life is a great thing and we shouldn't guilt folks into moping through a Memorial Day, but fireworks are better appreciated by those for whom explosions haven't been an impending and daily danger. Not the best way to pay tribute to those who have died (many in sudden and catastrophic explosions) defending our freedom.

It was the Methodist church on Hwy 6 who sponsored the fireworks. I agree, it's a holiday to honor the vets who have paid the ultimate sacrifice not a celebration! Veteran's Day is for celebration!

Have no problems with them as long as they did a 21 gun salute followed by taps as part of the program...
