A couple of years ago there was talk about being able to take and possibly earn a degree from A&M via online classes if you were military and had a recommendation from a former student (sponsor). Did I dream this or is it a real thing?

you can't get a Bach degree via DL.

and there is no such thing as 'getting a sponsor' you apply and are on you own. folks can't even get their kids in as a former student......

Not from A&M, but Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) has tons of online courses that are guaranteed to transfer to A&M. It's also dirt cheap.
